Brief notes of the meeting of Lancaster District Bus Users' Group held on 16th March 2017
Members of the group recieve copies of the full minutes of all meetings.
The March 2017 meeting included a presentation by Jack Waring of Glasdon Group of Blackpool, Glasdon is a manufacturer of street furniture that is seeking to break intio the bus shelter market.
Members expressed their views on what makes a good shelter (and a bad one) from the passenger's point of view and Jack explained some of the constraints on shelter manufacturers. Glasdon are willing to provide a prototype shelter free of charge if a suitable location in Lancaster could be identified.
The number 18 bus service to east Lancaster had been succesfully launch on 6th March and Kirkby Lonsdale Coach Hire had introduced some extra journeys on services 8 (Ryelands) and 9 (Farmdale Road).
There was nothing to report on the Local Transport Plan.
Greyhound Bridge will close for major overhaul work at some future date subject to funding for the work being obtained by the county council. The effect on bus operation will be significant.
There will be three Dales Bus services from Lancaster this year - to Richmond, Malham and Clitheroe.
